Pre-Workshop-Activities
a)
  • your booth should be as attractive as possible
  • everything should be arranged eye-catching for the buyer
  • examples: in 1999 the german tourist board put large coloured flags around their booth; the Zugspitzbahn put large posters on the wall behind their booth with beautiful pictures of their country; in 1998 Bucherer put an eye-catching poster of a big watch on the wall behind their boot;
    Please think about more new and special ideas for the decoration of your boot!
b)
  • on the workshops there should be always enough material for the buyers to grasp; instead of just reading and regarding, chinese buyers like to take and keep what they see;
  • the material could be e.g. brochures, maps of the country and well-known or capital cities, hotel catalogues, posters a.s.o.
  • the idea of posters of the country is: if the buyer later on put is at the wall in his office, more people will regard it and the desire to travel to this beautiful spot;
  • small gifts like pins or buttons, candy, rnatch-boxes, biros, stickers, stamps with local postmark, music-or info-CDs, a.s.o with your logo would also do a good job
c) to give the buyer an active role in the workshop, we like to do a quiz; the buyer has to answer a simple question about e.g. your country, your company or else; questions concerning some information given in your video would be a good idea;

Therefore, every participate of the promotion tour should think up two or three simple questions with three possible answers each;
please, send your questions to FTS so that we can choose the best; the dead-line will be the 1st of March 2000!
    Example:
    Which airline is flying directly from Munich to Beijing?
    possible answers:
        1) China Airlines
        2) China Eastern
        3) Dragon Air

d) something to eat or to drink served to the buyer can be very effectfulrtide; the sense of taste is strongly connected to the memory; if a buyer e.g. tastes some Mozartkugeln at an Austrian booth, he will always think of Austria, whenever he thinks of that delicious taste; the more he liked the taste, the more often he will think of this situation.

e) a deep impression will make a lucky draw;
every participant should bring something very special;
a voucher wouldn't do because the buyer prefers to hold something material in his hands; please, tell us until the 1st. of March, what you will bring, so that we can make some advertising;
Example:
last year the Munich Airport bad a t-Shirt of the famous soccer-team Bayern München; it was a great success! At the workshop in Shenzhen the company Coster Diamonds brought a ring with a real diamond! During the lucky-draw in 1998 one lady from Napoleon Hotel kissed the winner; that was a very special gift, which showed the famous charme of France;
f) the participants of the promotion tour should also leave something in China, like e.g. an 1-page-article with his photo and a short pithy headline for the press; the buyer will remember the person on the and think back to the nice conversation he had wit you; the article should be given to the buyer together with a small present; if you need your headline or a small text to be translated into the chinese language, FTS can translate it for an extra charge.
Example:
an invitation to your country with a voucher of a free stay in your hotel can be very useful;
Suggestion for the welcome-dinner at Beijing: a special lucky-draw for the tourists according to every country; the invited reporters/officials can draw one prize; Photos will be made, which is a good publicity;
g) A special Joker would be a VISA for the chinese tourists to your country; to get a visa seems always to be a problem for chinese tourists; invite an official person of the consulate of your country to the workshop!
Example:
last year, an official person from the Swisse Consulat came to our workshop in Shanghai to be a V.I.P: at our lucky-draw; he offered the possibility to get a visa to Switzerland in only two days;
Suggestion: invite your V.I.P. or an from a local airline to join our workshop! Last year there were representatives of Lufthansa, Swiss Air and Air France
h) invite former buyers/costumers you met already in the last years! Relations to people from far away are very important for Chinese! Your chinese friends will be very pleased to be invited to the workshops.
i) Chinese name cards will be very useful!
if you like us to translate your name card, please send an example to FTS until the 1st of March 2000! 100 cards will cost 50,- DM.
j) at the workshops there will be a video-show; every participate should send his video-tape to Mr Florian Pötsch as soon as possible! The video shouldn't be longer than 1 minute and introduce e.g. your company or country; CD-Roms or brochures (they can be scanned) are also possible; dead-line: 16th of February;
the text should not be longer than 50 words; FTS will translate it into Chinese;
please, send your text with short, expressing slogans directly to FTS!
 
VISA
Concerning all german participants, please send the following to FTS:
  • your original passport (valid at least 6 months)
  • two passport-pictures
  • 100,- DM (cheque/remittance)
  • the filled out application forms
Participants from other nations are kindly requested to arrange their Visa by themselves!
